Welcome to Jan's Childcare

I offer lots of different indoor and outdoor activities (according to ages of the children in my care).

EYFS is the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which i use to help me observe, assess and plan for each child’s individual learning and development; each child has their own daily diary in which I record their progress.  I also use photography to capture those special moments.

Free play is where the children are encouraged to use their own imagination using the resources available to them, these include books, toys, water play, sand play, garden ride on toys, slide, scooters, pushchairs, dolls, cars, farm animals, dinosaurs, cuddly toys, light & sound activity toys building bricks and much more..

Art & Craft is always a big hit with the children. We do drawing, colouring, painting, papier mache, playdoh, card making, jewellery, hama beads and many more…

Story time I have a large selection of both fictional and non fictional books suitable for all ages. Reading is shared as a group daily and also used for individual quiet time, I also regularly visit the local library with the children.

Role play such as shopping, picnics, doctors, nurses, knights and pirates, race car drivers are all aided by dressing up and making dens and playing together.

Outdoor activities are weather permitting, but we try to spend time outside everyday, which include visits to the local park, feeding the ducks, nature trails, growing flowers and vegetables, walking to the shops/postbox.

Group Activities  Each week i take the children to group meetings to assist with their social and physical development. Using facilities like the Pemberton , Libraries, and local groups like Surestart and Hartbeeps.

Outings and Discovery  We enjoy regular visits to Stanwick Lakes , West Lodge Rural Centre and Harrold Country Park. In supporting these visits we also have a butterfly house at the setting each year where the children are able to experience the caterpillar to butterfly life cycle , watch tadpoles become frogs and grow their own flowers and vegetables.

TV/DVD. I have many DVD’s suitable for all children.  TV time is treated as quality time where we sit together to watch a film/educational programs.

Cooking is always a popular activity where we like to make cakes, cookies, jellies etc

ICT & Internet facilities are available as a resource for fun & educational games / homework help / learning platforms & research. It is closely supervised and restrictions are set on the PC search engine to restrict and filter what is viewed.

Themes Each month I prepare themed projects for different celebrations/festivals like Chinese New Year, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Children also enjoy themes about the weather, the seasons, the ocean etc. Each theme includes fun activities (age related) for the children to get involved in and will help support the EYFS.
