Welcome to Jan's Childcare

" A Childs needs are best met when space and resources allow them to play and learn in an environment that is safe and secure and is used to promote a child's development.  It should also be warm and welcoming to children and parents alike".

Hello, my name is Janice. I am have been a registered childminder based in Rushden since August 2008. I am married to Andy and we have a teenage daughter called Harri.  Our home is a spacious 4 bed roomed detached house located in a quiet cul d sac, which we also share with our two friendly cats, English Springer Spaniel,  Teddy hamster and numerous fish.  It has a dedicated playroom for the children which is full of toys and games for all ages; it also includes laptops which can be used for educational games ,helping with homework and accessing their school learning platform. We use the whole ground floor of the property, the living room opens out onto the back garden.

Jan's Childcare looks to provide a stable and fun place for the children, where they can play and learn in a relaxing and caring home environment.

I am a member of the Northants Childminding Association and I am Ofsted registered.  For my inspection I attained some ‘outstanding’ elements and was overall rated as ‘Good’ which reflects that my provision is ‘Strong’. I am able to show you a copy of my report if required.

I hold all necessary insurances for home, car and public liability and am registered with the Information Commission Office for Data Protection.

I attend regular training and workshops to keep me up to date with childcare needs and regulations. Please see 'Qualifications' for further details.

Our garden is child friendly, fully enclosed and secure allowing the children to play safely and where I actively encourage the children to grow and look after their own flowers, vegetables and herbs. They have daily access to outside and we are fortunate to have a pocket park close by which we make good use of.  We regularly attend local play groups like Jumping Jax, and Heartbeeps, as well as trip’s to Stanwick Lakes, Irchester Country Park and other local outdoor play parks. We enjoy our weekly trips to East Lodge Riding Centre for the Pony and Tots group and on rainy days we can visit indoor play centres , like Riversude Hub.  We plan a wide variety of activities using the Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to help us observe, assess and plan for each child's individual learning and development, working closely with parents to ensure each child reaches their full potential, these include reading, drawing, painting, sticking & gluing, messy play, dancing, singing, and of course lots of free play.

We operate from 7am to 6pm and can offer full-time, part-time, before and after school and holiday cover, even occasional care if you need to attend an event where children cannot accompany you..  Bank Holidays and weekends by special arrangement and welcome enquiries from parents/guardians of children aged 7 months to 12 years.  I can be flexible with my hours and am open to discussion and will, where possible support your needs.

Before and after school care is available. We collect and drop off at Henry Chichele School in Higham Ferrers.

We have a smoke free home.
